THE SAUSAGE SHOW
2014 – TODAY
The Sausage Show project anticipates the inevitable end of intensive livestock farming. The project documents the propaganda for eating meat with photographs of sausages, in which nothing betrays their animal origin. Everyday product photos of pre-packed sausages found in shop flyers elevated into cheerful and accessible works of art. Lest we forget that humans once bred, killed, processed into factory food and consumed animals.
The sausage, king of factory farming. King of greenhouse gas emissions, of danger to public health from transmission of zoonoses and of poor living conditions of pigs, cattle, and chickens. The king’s passing is just a matter of time. The sausage is dead. Long live the sausage.
