In 2008, Boterenbrood collected data on the process of emptying the bladder. Every day, he recorded the location, type of toilet, privacy measures, body posture, duration, noise level, volume, temperature, colour, odour, simultaneous defecation, toilet paper use, flushing and personal hygiene on a form he designed himself. Fourteen categories. One year of meticulously recorded observations across 366 forms. An unusual self-study with the toilet as a laboratory.
